We invite you to an introduction workshop to Computer Vision and Image Processing with a hands-on approach to a specific problem.
💻You will use Python, OpenCV, TensorFlow, Convolutional Neural Networks, and many other techniques, some of which are decades old but which pack a punch in Image Processing.
In the last decade, advancements in both research and hardware made it possible for Artificial Intelligence to be present everywhere in our day-to-day lives, from our smartphones (facial recognition, behavior learning, AR etc.) to smart traffic lights and self-driving modules in cars. Computer Vision and Image Processing used to be expensive (because of the hardware and the skill required), hard to implement, and tightly controlled conditions needed for good results.
Nowadays, with relatively banal and cheap hardware, we can easily add new AI modules to improve our personal lives, businesses, and society.
This workshop will approach a business issue that appears more often than is thought.
Stock availability is one of the parameters which heavily influences the success of a shop. Thus, making sure the shelves are empty in as little time as possible is essential. While this is not a big problem for relatively small shops (since the employees usually have almost all the shop in their field of view, they can easily spot empty or near empty shelves), it becomes an increasingly pressing issue as the shops are larger. Instead of employees patrolling the aisles in search of empty shelves, we can have an automated system based on RGB cameras and Computer Vision techniques. The employees are still required to fill the shelves, but now they can be automatically alerted when a shelf is nearly empty so they can replenish it, preventing the articles on the shelf from going out of stock.
