Speed Dating for the Literary Soul Round 2: Film/TV Edition

Brunch and speed dating, round two! I'll bring the food, questionnaires, games, and partner tables. You bring your film/t.v. knowledge, open mind and socializing A-game. LA can be a daunting place, especially in the industry. We at The Hatchery Press want to make it easy and fun to find 'your people.'

Who it's for: screenwriters at any level who are looking to meet other screenwriters in a friendly environment.

How it works: We'll send out a questionnaire about a week ahead of time to get to know a little more about you, what you like and dislike and what you're looking for. This will help us structure the event and make potential matches! Certain questions will be edited into a public bio that all attendees can see. On the actual day, food will be provided (fresh waffles and fruit if I have anything to say about it, which I do, so probably there'll be waffles and fruit) and we'll hand out name tags for everyone. Around 11:15, we'll settle down to the 'dating'. Depending on numbers, each pair will have about 5-7 minutes to chat and get to know each other. Ice breaker cards and starter topics will be provided, but you don't have to stick to them if you're really hitting it off. Then when the time is up, we'll shuffle partners.

Every hour we'll take a five minute break and at around 2:30 everyone will fill out a form listing potential matches. If your match matched you back, we'll send them your contact information so you guys can get together. Simple as that! Everyone can stick around afterwards have some coffee, order a pizza, launch a rousing game of Cards Against Humanity or a competitive game of scrabble, but we'll be closing up shop around 4.

NOTE: This event is based on attendance. If we don't get at least 15 RSVPs by February 4th, we will unfortunately have to cancel and everyone will be refunded their ticket fee. So bring some friends, spread the word and let's get dating!
