Holiday Salon and Fete through Song and Scene

Details

For those who wished they could've been at the Cabaret Voltaire or at the salons of fin-de-siecle Vienna, I’d love to invite you to an informal holiday salon Friday the 13th that will mediate on and dance around the question how to live life—writ large—as art—beyond the stage and gallery.

A twist on the Christmas tradition of “An Evening of Lessons and Carols”, the salon’s readings will be drawn from Salinger’s Franny and Zooey with musical interpolations curated by the performing musicians (composers include Mozart, Bernstein, Mahler, Offenbach, Lauridsen amongst others).

For those unfamiliar with the novella, it contemplates and probes at transcendental and esoteric questions in a most comical and approachable manner. If you love movement as contemplative practice, meditate in any style or simply love art, ideas and philosophy, this is a chance to consider many such things in the container of interwoven art and song.

Tickets are being sold on a sliding scale between 30-50--but a limited number of free tickets are available via meetup if you message or email directly. Hjcaracappa@gmail.com

A casual reception for mingling and snacks will precede the performance in a unique, restored private performance space in East Harlem. Feel free to share with any spiritually, artistically or there like-minded friends who happen to be free on a December Friday—this most abundant, full time of year!
