Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra - Exploring Our Musical World
The Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra (CCO) is San Diego County’s premier professional chamber orchestra comprised of highly skilled and experienced musicians who have worked in many other great professional ensembles in many genres of music.
Just what is a ‘chamber orchestra’ you may be asking. Basically, it is simply a smaller orchestra than what is known as a ‘symphony orchestra’ which is comprised of about 60 – 70 musicians. The chamber orchestra size ranges from 15 – 25 musicians depending on the repertoire for each production. The other distinction is that a chamber orchestra only performs the music composed specifically for it. CCO performs the vast chamber orchestra repertoire from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th Century to the present, including world premier works and international indigenous music.
CCO performs in more intimate settings, giving our audiences a more personal ‘up close’ experience. Our main venue is Incarnation Lutheran Church in Poway, CA. Gregory Lawrence, CCO Director
