Tournament at Farm to Fork (hosted by Margaret)

Details

Please read everything below. Tournaments are for ONLY for intermediate and advanced players, no beginners or people learning to play, and they are fast paced unlike our social nights. We don't allow any new members, whether they know how to play or not, to attend tournaments. As long as you have attended at least one social event with our group, you are welcome to join.

If this is your first time at a tournament, we will need your phone number and you will need ours. Please send it to us through messages. we need it to be able to contact you, if you're running late, or a no show (have to cancel last minute). We count on everyone who signs up for each tournament. Please make sure you are aware if you make a reservation or not. Repeated no shows will not be allowed to attend future tournaments.

If you want to eat and socialize beforehand, arrive by 5:30 pm, otherwise, arrive by 6:30 to pay and receive your seat assignment. Due size it is limited to 40 players. After 40 have signed up there will be a waiting list. PLEASE don't wait until the last minute to cancel. If you have to cancel after 2 pm on the day of call Ann ASAP.

Because this tournament will be hosted at a restaurant, small bites and a couple of non-alcoholic beverage options will be provided (and paid for) by the host (Margaret). This will include:

  • Pimento cheese & chicken salad sandwiches
  • Fried mushrooms
  • Pita points
  • Veggie trays
  • Fruit trays
  • Beverages include iced tea, water, lemonade, and coke products

You will be able to order off the menu if you would like something more substantial. If you plan to order off the menu, please bring your patience, as their kitchen is small, so sometimes food can take a while to come out. There is also an ice cream shop attached to the restaurant if you want to hop into it for dessert.

They have a full bar you are welcome to order from as well, it has a great selection of beer, liquor, and a decent selection of wine.

This is a non-timed tournament with a buy-in of $10. Unlike social nights, WE PLAY A SET NUMBER OF ROUNDS TO BE DETERMINED BY THE NUMBER OF GAMES TO BY THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS IN ATTENDANCE BY 6:30 pm. We start playing promptly at 7:00 and normally finish around 10. DON'T SIGN UP IF YOU CAN'T PLAY UNTILL THEN.

Thank you,
Ann and Margaret

Chattanooga Euchre Meetup Tournament Rules updated 9/2/22

1- Intermediate and advanced players preferred. We suggest beginners (and those who haven't played in a while) come and learn on Tuesday and Thursday night. Tournaments are not the time to ask questions on strategy. Table talk is not allowed.

2- If you make a reservation and can't attend, please cancel ASAP. We depend on specific numbers to determine play, unlike Mondays and Thursdays. WE START PROMPTLY AT THE STATED TIME (see above). Please arrive 30 minutes (normally 6:30 pm) before the stated time of play (normally 7 pm) to pay and receive your seat number and score sheet. IF YOU CAN'T COME AT THAT TIME, PLEASE DON'T SIGN UP, OR CANCEL ASAP. We understand things happen and you might be late once in a while and we will wait for you if we know you are coming, but please be considerate of others. Comment below if you're running a late. It will be up to the host(s) to decide whether we start without you.

3- We play “a card laid is a card played” except in the case of a renege. If a renege occurs, it can be corrected before the next trick is led without penalty. When discovered, the opposing team receives 2 points (4 points if it is a loner hand) immediately and the play comes to an end. We also play “stick the dealer.”

4- Host(s) determines whether a tournament will be timed, and that information is included in the Meetup announcement of the event.

Non-timed play is more relaxed. Play needs to be steady and faster than Tuesday and Thursday nights because we play more rounds (roughly equivalent of 8-10 games). Timed play is much faster with a timer without much talk.

Other aspects (number of rounds, “going under,” etc.) depend on the number of players in attendance and will be determined at the tournament. We play with two decks, so that an extra deck will be shuffled for the user of the next dealer. Cutting is not necessary and is strongly discouraged in timed tournaments.

5- The host(s) also determines what type or party (if so desired) the tournament will be. If you wish to participate in the pre-tournament socializing, please come an hour or so before play begins, no pot-luck for this tournament. You are welcome to come only for the tournament if you want. Buy-in is determined by the host and split by the top 3 winners. Not everyone plays the same, so please be patient with others.
