Cafe Immortelle...a Death Cafe
Details
As the holiday season arrives—with its glow of lights, cherished traditions, and expectations of togetherness—it can quietly deepen the ache of absence, reminding us of those who are no longer here. For many, this time of year holds both beauty and sorrow, making grief feel closer to the surface and harder to carry alone.
This Month’s Topic:
The holidays can be an especially tender and challenging time for those navigating the loss of a loved one. Join us for an open, compassionate conversation about grief, death, and remembrance in a comfortable and supportive setting at Olinger Andrews, in the Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel. This gathering will be thoughtfully facilitated by Amber Griffen, Funeral Director, who brings a deep heart and personal mission for guiding individuals and families through life’s most meaningful and difficult transitions. Together, we’ll create gentle space to share reflections, fears, questions, and lived experiences of loss—especially as they arise during the holiday season. Over a warm cup of coffee, we’ll soften the silence around death and grief, finding connection, understanding, and support in community. We look forward to welcoming you.
At Café Immortelle, part of our purpose is to hold space for the weight of death—the way it shapes how we live, love, and move through change. Sometimes that weight feels so heavy we try not to look at it; other times it feels so distant it hardly seems real. There is no right or wrong way to hold these truths. This is simply an invitation to explore how each of us understands and approaches death—in our families, our culture, and within ourselves—and how meeting it with intention may open new ways of living, connecting, and honoring what matters most.
