About us
In the similar vein to other Cafe Scientifique forums, we will be inviting local researchers to share their passion with the general public in an informal setting. There will be no need for any scientific background to attend these events except a desire to learn and understand current issues from a scientific perspective. Read about the Cafe Scientifique concept and more at http://www.cafescientifique.org/
We usually meet in the upstairs room at Franklin House http://www.thefranklinhouse.ca/ in Streetsville over a drink and enjoy exceptional pub fare and more. The venue is conducive to small - medium sized gatherings with an emphasis on interaction between the featured speaker(s) and the audience without defined boundaries.
An introduction to the topic by the presenter limited to 10-15 minutes is followed by an interactive Q&A/discussion session. Length of the meeting is usually limited to 2 hours. Our meetings are usually in the third week of the month on an evening between Sunday and Wednesday. Watch this group for our upcoming events.
We frequently feature faculty from University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus, but also hope to engage researchers from other institutions in Mississauga and neighboring communities. If you have any recommendations on appropriate speakers or topics, you can suggest them in a meetup or email me at vegvet@gmail.com

Late Spring (!!) Brunch
Donegal Arms, 136 Lakeshore Rd. E., Mississauga, ON, CAThough it's coming to late spring, one wonders if spring has even started; nonetheless it is time for another brunch,
The future of the Halton Peel Humanist Community (HPHC) of which Cafe Scientifique is an initiative is in the balance and we want our members and friends to be aware of the challenges we face. Please join us and share your ideas, and especially what you can contribute to keep it going. We will soon discuss these matters more formally at the Annual Meeting of HPHC, but see no reason why we cannot start the conversation sooner. We’re all ears.
Apologies for the relatively short notice
Curious about the brunch menu at the Donegal Arms? You can browse it here: Brunch Menu (though no promises it’s fully up to date).
Parking tip: Try the lot on Hurontario Street, just north of Donegal Arms and the two storefronts next to it.
