About us
Welcome to Café with the Queers, the Gays & the Theys – North Van!
This is a gathering space for anyone part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community on the North Shore — and yes, you’re welcome even if you’re coming from elsewhere and just want to connect with us.
Our intention is simple:
To build real friendships, meaningful connections, and a visible, thriving queer community in North Vancouver.
We believe joy is powerful. Community is powerful. And choosing each other in a world that often pushes individualism is iconic.
We meet for casual coffees to get to know one another, grow our network, and strengthen queer presence on the North Shore.
Community Agreements
To keep this space welcoming and supportive for everyone, we ask all members to honour the following:
Respect & Accountability
Discrimination, harassment, or harmful behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes (but is not limited to) racism, misogyny, body shaming, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, ableism, or any behaviour that makes others feel unsafe or excluded.
Please use inclusive language and avoid assumptions about someone’s identity, gender, or pronouns. When unsure, ask respectfully.
Shared Responsibility for a Safer Space:
Each of us plays a role in creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
Be mindful of how you participate, how you speak, how you listen, and how much space you take up. Stay aware that different people carry different lived experiences and levels of safety in public queer spaces.
Approach others with curiosity instead of judgment. Respect differences in culture, background, and perspective. Lead with kindness.
