Café with the Queers, The Gays & the Theys - North Van - April Edition
Details
Café with the Queers, the Gays, the Theys - North Van
Second gathering for folks who identify within the LGBTQIA2S+ community on the North Shore.
This space is intentionally for queer people only so we can build connection in a space that feels safe, and fully ours.
We’ll be meeting at Goldie’s North Vancouver, where we have a table reserved for the group.
Logistics:
-
Our Café will take place inside Goldie's North Vancouver (279 8th St E North Vancouver) at 11:00 AM.
Since it's supposed to rain we have a table reserved for our group. -
I’ll be there a few minutes early — feel free to introduce yourself when you arrive! (I’m Elodie — like Melody, drop the M).
What to bring:
- Friends and partners are very welcome
- Unfortunately no pets allowed inside at this time. :(
Intention:
We’re here to build real friendships and meaningful connections, and to grow a visible, thriving queer community in North Vancouver.
While queer culture often centers nightlife, we’re intentionally creating something different:
A daytime, sober-friendly space for early risers, coffee lovers, introverts-who-warm-up-slowly, and people who genuinely enjoy being in bed by 10 PM.
Community happens over coffee, in conversation, in consistency and meaningful connections.
Guidelines:
Zero Tolerance for Oppressive Behaviours:
We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for any form of oppressive behaviour, including but not limited to misogyny, racism, body shaming, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, biphobia or any other behaviours or attitudes that contribute to an unsafe or unwelcoming environment.
Use inclusive and respectful language. Avoid making assumptions about other people’s genders and pronouns.
Help Create a Safer and Inclusive Space:
We ask that guests take responsibility for understanding their own privileges, and how their actions may impact others. Be mindful of how you take up space, both physically and verbally. Foster an atmosphere of respect and consideration for all attendees.
Help us uphold our values around inclusion and mutual respect by maintaining open-mindedness towards others’ cultures, perspectives, and backgrounds. Refrain from making assumptions or judgments based on someone’s appearance. Treat all individuals with kindness and respect.
