YaYa's Thai Restaurant and Sushi

YaYa's was recently written up in Texas Monthly. It is so great to discover a new place that is absolutely perfect, ambiance, food and service. The restaurant is light and airy with high ceilings, red and black seating and well placed flowers and art, the total effect is restful and welcoming. I tried the Egg Rolls, Chicken Satay, Coconut Shrimp, Bananas Tempura, Coconut Ice Cream and some kind of lemon flavored soup; we just passed things around to one another so that we got to try lots of different things. The peanut sauce for the Chicken Satay was so good you wanted it dripped all over everything-even lettuce! The Coconut Shrimp were huge and delicious, the best I have ever had. I can't remember if you got 5 or 6 of them but it was enough for a meal and they were off of the appetizer menu. Reports on the sushi and pad thai were both thumbs up - way up and I have gone back since and tried the pad thai and agree that it is excellent. YaYa's is a new restaurant in The Yard Shopping Center in Olmos Park near the coffee shop Olmos Perk for those of you who know that place. Hope to see you there.
