What we’re about

Cain's Jawbone is a murder mystery puzzle written by Edward Powys Mathers, the inventor of cryptic crosswords. It was first publishedin 1934, then republished in 2019 and saw a brief spike in popularity on Tiktok during Covid lockdowns.

The puzzle involves rearranging 100 out-of-order pages based on literary and contextual clues, typically requiring lots of research and careful reading and re-reading of pages.

Cain's Jawbone is a fiendishly difficult puzzle that had only been solved by 4 people since its publication having been described as "one of the hardest and most beguiling word puzzles ever published."

I've been dabbling in this puzzle off and on since 2020, but it's a very niche puzzle and has been a solo project so far. I'd love to share my love for the puzzle with any other hopeless puzzle fiends out there - we can make some progress, or share our solo wins, or just take turns sharing our puzzle-solving misery :)
