Join us on Friday, 21 August at 3:00 PM for a visit to the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art, located inside the Egyptian Opera House complex on Al-Gezira Land in Zamalek.
The museum houses an important collection of modern Egyptian art, offering a fascinating journey through the development of Egyptian painting and sculpture during the 20th century.
What we’ll see
The collection features works by some of Egypt’s most important modern artists, including:

Mahmoud Mokhtar — Egypt’s pioneering modern sculptor, best known for Egypt’s Renaissance (Nahdat Misr).

Mahmoud Said — renowned for his portraits, landscapes and depictions of Egyptian life.

Ragheb Ayad — celebrated for his lively paintings of Egyptian rural life, traditions and celebrations.

Abdel Hadi El-Gazzar — known for symbolic and surreal works exploring Egyptian society and culture.

Gazbia Sirry — an influential modernist whose work explored women, society, urban life and political themes.
We’ll explore the galleries together and discuss some of the artworks, the artists behind them, and the development of modern Egyptian art.
