Details

First, Anna Koop (https://www.linkedin.com/in/anna-koop-4130b411/), Senior Scientific Advisor at Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), will give a quick guide to the latest reinforcement learning research happening at Amii.

Reinforcement Learning is the kind of machine learning that deals with learning through interacting with an environment. Anna’s talk will provide a whirlwind overview of the basics of reinforcement learning problem formulation. We’ll see a suite of applications where RL has been used to improve performance in difficult environments.

Then, meet three of Amii's team and ask about their journeys in machine learning - from both the business and scientific perspectives.

Finally, Steve Reid (https://www.linkedin.com/in/stevenreid75/), Head of R&D at VEERUM, will give a presentation about his current journey creating AI-enabled services. Steve will describe how to validate opportunities before writing a line of code, how to deliver reliable output before your model reliably matches a human-level performance threshold, and how to significantly reduce the cost/time to acquire training data.
