Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting will be occurring Nov 14th from 5pm-8pm at Platform Calgary in classroom 1. For those who don't know, this is where we vote to change bylaws, appoint the directors for the year and also discuss the direction the CGDA will be taking for the upcoming fiscal year.

Any paid CGDA member can vote at this upcoming meeting. As well we understand not everyone can make it and for those who do want to vote but are unable to attend we have a proxy form below which you can fill out to assign another CGDA member to vote on your behalf.

We also have a google form to gauge interest in new Directors for the CGDA! We are requesting that anyone who is looking to join as a director be ready to commit to a minimum of 2 initiatives with high focuses going towards fundraising, grants and outreach. Anyone looking to get more involved on exclusively events may consider taking up a volunteer role which we are happy to guide you through.

Finally we will list here some of the proposed changes to our bylaws for consideration (all or none of these may be brought forth for the AGM). As well note that if any of these proposed changes are voted in they will not take effect until after the AGM:

A. Voting rights within the CGDA will be offered for free. CGDA paid membership will still be the only way to access discounts/special offers and the CGDA resources.

B. Voting rights of members will be restricted to after 30 days of active membership

C. The president of the year prior to the AGM will have veto rights towards the upcoming directors if they feel the directors voted in are acting in bad faith or are performing a hostile takeover

D. Active directors are expected to be involved in 2 (or more) initiatives to be eligible for re-election the following year

E. The removal of special board seats in the CGDA directors (these positions will be moved to the advisory board).
