With 12 peaks over 6000m, Bolivia is a country of high mountain ranges and is the perfect playground for high altitude mountaineering. It is also a land of varied terrain from the Andean mountains to the Amazon Basin rainforest. A trip to Bolivia to explore the mountains will inevitably include time exploring the colourful markets of La Paz or the surreal Uyuni Salt Flats.
I am gauging interest in a 12-day itinerary to do high altitude mountaineering in Bolivia (travel days not included). The tentative dates are May 25th to June 7th. The itinerary will involve a couple of acclimatization hikes, a glacier travel and rescue practice day, and 4 big peaks (Pequeño Alpamayo, Condoriri, Huayna Potosi, and Illimani). Nevado Illimani is the highest mountain in the Cordillera Real range of Bolivia. This is an intensive schedule that involves traveling to base and high camps and several early alpine starts. Those who are interested in this trip should have some experience with mountaineering (preferably high altitude) and have their own gear (except for rope and tent). PM me for more details if you are interested.
