This is not the tourist hike in Lake Louise, so don't sign up expecting to pass by chateaus, lakes, and teahouses. This mountain has a reputation for having a horrible scree ascent up the western slopes to the reach the summit ridge, so it's a much better idea to save it for the shoulder season when snow on the slopes will make the ascent easier and more enjoyable. Who would want to do this objective in dry conditions during the height of summer anyway when there are other loftier peaks to bag? The crux of this trip will most likely be the drive to the trailhead down the Oldman River Road. The weather looks fantastic on Saturday (the kind of weather I was hoping for the past three weeks for my mystery hike - *sigh*, oh well), so let's get out and enjoy the day. As the days are short at this time of year, make sure to have your headlamp in your bag. Since we didn't need snowshoes on the Icefields last week, which is an area that gets a lot of snow before other areas, we likely won't need snowshoes for this one. And if we did need snowshoes, then we'd be in a lot of trouble because the slopes are quite steep. Note: I may stop in Turner Valley on the way back for chicken and beer, so if you're looking for a ride and don't want to make the stop, I'd suggest you drive yourself or don't sign up.

๐ŸŒฒ If we have not hiked together before, please answer the question regarding your hiking experience. The waitlist for this event is not first come, first serve, but rather is based on your hiking/scrambling experience that is suitable for this hike.
๐ŸŒฒ I prefer to move at a moderate and steady pace with short breaks only when necessary (e.g., re/delayering, bathroom, snacks, lunch). This means that if you need to stop for frequent and/or elaborate photo shoots at every large boulder and pseudo-view point, please do not sign up. It is also a must that the GROUP STAYS TOGETHER, so don't sign up if you want to take off to do exploratory route finding through the bushes or up an uninviting gully or trying to set a personal best time. It is also not acceptable to break off into your own small group to selfishly bag a peak and then head back to the trailhead while leaving the rest of the group behind.
