On Sunday, August 27 you and/or any adult/teen guests arrive at Fish Creek Park at 9 am to relax, unwind, and hear a talk about local history and wildlife on the calmest part of Calgary's Bow River. Award-winning RiverWatch raises money to offer low-cost tours to kids/school groups and the public.

Qualifications of the guides: Guides complete intense training for rafting, emergency response, health and safety, bus driving, equipment maintenance, water quality monitoring, and local natural history.

Highlights of the 2.5 - 3 hour float trip and guided tour

  • Insights into local river history, culture, bio-diversity, stewardship.

  • First aid kits, life jackets, and paddles.

  • Free shuttle from Boat Ramp/Launch Parking on Bow Bottom Trail.

  • A washroom break and time to eat the lunch you brought.

  • A safe, solid commercial raft for 10 people. If weather and river flow rates are an issue, the trip is canceled and your money is refunded.

Park at the Boat Launch Parking in Fish Creek Provincial Park

Arrive at 9 am sharp. Your float starts at 10 am.

  • Check in with the guide at the table after you park.

  • Find me (Sue) and Calgary Ladies Walking Group.

  • Board the shuttle bus that will take you upstream to a boat launch.

  • Listen to the water-safety talk and instruction for paddling the raft.

  • Find a life jacket in your size. Store your valuables in water proof area.

  • Float back to your parked vehicle at the Bow Bottom Trail Boat Launch.

What to bring: A snack for a stop with a washroom break; water to drink; and shoes that will get wet (rubber boots or water shoes are ideal); raingear if rain is forecast.

How fit do you have to be? You must be mobile to paddle the raft occasionally. Adult paddle while the guide steers.

What if the trip is canceled by RiverWatch? This happens when weather and river levels are expected to be an issue. RiverWatch contacts us and your money is refunded.

As such, we are untrained and non-certified volunteer organizers/hosts, not coaches, trainers, or experts. By signing up as a member or non-member, you agree to participate in the event voluntarily and entirely at your own risk. You and your guests and (adults/teens) accept that the event can be dangerous and agree to fully assume all the risks of participating. You acknowledge, understand, and agree to release and discharge Calgary Ladies Walking Group hosts, coordinators, organizers, participants, drivers and the lessors of the event premises from any and all claims/actions that might stem from your participation.
