Mahjong at International Games Day - May 17
Details
Let's make new friends, and play (or learn to play) mahjong and other Asian games as part of Asian Heritage Month. Beginners are welcome and we will teach you to play mahjong for free even if you don't know the difference between a chi, a pung, or a kong.
Today's event will held at the Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizen's Association, at the foot of the Centre Street Bridge in Chinatown. Some mahjong tables will be set up indoors and others will be set up outdoors (weather permitting) on the patio.
We hope to have up to 16 mahjong games going on at the same time, so there should be ample room for all. However, we may need additional mahjong sets so if you have a mahjong set at home, please bring it with you so more people can join in the fun.
One or more of the tables will be set up to play riichi (Japanese mahjong).
There should be free street parking near the venue on a Sunday but it might be more convenient to arrive by C-train if you can, as parking spaces fill up fast.
