Hello Gamers!
Welcome to Press Start Gaming club. This is a club for true gaming enthusiasts. Our mission is exploring the frontiers of this art form by trying out new games that may be outside of our typical wheelhouse. Essentially it's a book club but for video games!
Every month we pick a game that we will all collectively vote on. Throughout the month we will complete the game and then meet up to discuss it! Group members will submit their suggestions through the discord channel (tell us about the game and why it’s awesome/we should play it!) and at the end of the month we’ll all vote on the game we want to play. The games we select for voting will be based on the preferences, budget, and time commitment of our group. For the sake of variety we will try to mix it up and explore many different genres!
The ultimate goal of this club is to create a space where we can meet up and share our mutual love for the video game art form. This club is born from the love of sharing video games with cool like-minded folks. It comes from the memory of the old days of couch co-op where you would sit down with some friends and experience the simple joy of playing through a game together.
The dream would be to expand this into a weekly event where we could gather and hang out and play some games together (or even just grab a beer) along with the monthly book/video game club meetup.
I work a very busy sales job so I can be slow to respond. I also don't have much experiencing running a club, so the might be some growing pains.
