What we’re about

A Gàidhealtachd is a community of Gaelic Speakers. Earlier in Canada's history about one-in-seven Canadians spoke Gaelic and held Gaelic values. Those values -- hospitality, practicality, interdependence and community spirit -- are too precious to loose. The Gaelic language is the foundation for those values. How long, after our language is lost, can our heritage values survive?

This is a group for people who want to learn Scottish Gaelic from scratch. Using DVDs of the ground-breaking Gaelic learners' programme from BBC Alba, "Speaking Our Language", the group will run for one hour a week: we will watch a 23-minute episode, and then practice the Gaelic that we have learned to date.
