6pm Thursday 8-Ball Pool Social @ Garage Sports Bar, Downtown Calgary
Details
This is a new experimental event started by me (Kush) where we get together to play a few hours of 8-ball pool and billiards games socially. Currently I'm organizing these on Thursdays every week in the summer from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM but I'll experiment with the day or place as we gather more to make it best for me and everyone. This is for a relaxed, social evening where the focus is on making new friends while playing pool.
Our current venue is Garage Sports Bar in downtown Calgary, though we may occasionally move to another pool hall in the future if it’s a better fit for the group. Any venue changes will always be announced in advance.
What to Expect
- Friendly 8-ball games in groups of 4.
- Games are typically played 2 vs. 2.
- Players will rotate between games whenever possible so everyone has the opportunity to meet and play with different people.
- The emphasis is on having fun, socializing, and creating a welcoming atmosphere—not serious competition.
Who Can Join?
Everyone is welcome!
Whether you’ve been playing for years or you don’t even know how to hold a pool cue yet, you’re invited. Beginners are encouraged to join, and players of all skill levels are asked to be patient, supportive, and welcoming.
Cost
- Each table is charged by the hour. It's about $15/hr which will be split evenly across every player on the table.
- Each group is responsible for paying for its own pool table.
- Buying a drink or some food is encouraged and paid for by yourself. It helps support the business that’s hosting our meetup.
Event Minimum
A minimum of 4 attendees is required for the event to take place.
If fewer than 4 people have RSVP’d, the event will be cancelled approximately 2 hours before the scheduled start time, so please check Meetup before heading to the venue.
A Few Ground Rules
- Be respectful and inclusive.
- Play fair and be patient with newer players.
- Help keep games moving so everyone gets a chance to play.
- Respect the venue, its staff, and your fellow attendees.
- Drink responsibly (without making it an unpleasent experience for others). No one is responsible for your behavior and restrictive actions will be taken if you don't respect these constraints.
Whether you’re looking to improve your game, expand your social circle, or simply enjoy a fun Thursday evening, we’d love to have you join us!
