First event in the park
Details
Topic: Open Discussion TBD
Join a group of like-minded strangers, skip small talk, have a conversation about life’s big questions, maybe learn something and make a friend in the process. No preparation, nothing to study, and no background required, just real open discussion and community.
What to expect
This group is for those who want to skip the small talk, share their thoughts, dive into big ideas, focus on meaningful conversations, have a friendly debate, and test their critical thinking in a safe environment.
Calgary Deep Thinkers is where the curious and the open-minded challenge their perspectives and opinions for a better understanding of the world.
Join us for the critical pursuit of fundamental truths about existence, knowledge, values, and the nature of reality.

The Format & Rules
Courtesy, respect, and empathy are required
-
Depending on how many show up, we split into groups of 6, so everyone has an opportunity to talk.
-
Every group has a dedicated delegate with seed questions to get the conversation going, manage time, and keep the conversation moving.
-
One person speaks at a time, clockwise. No cross-talk.
-
We focus on brief views and opinions. Dominating the conversation is discouraged to ensure everyone has space.
-
Deviations from the subject are allowed only if everyone in the group agrees.
Socializing & Community
Meeting new people is hard. This is a low-pressure way to do it.
- 6:30 PM: Arrive, host will break the ice and get you settled in.
- 6:50 PM: Discussion begins (groups formed).
- 8:30 PM: Wrap up discussion. You're welcome to stay longer and socialize and hear how other discussions went.
