Saturday June 16 2018 Meetup venue is at Boston Pizza Westbrook Mall, Calgary

Boston Pizza Restaurant Westbrook Mall Location

Please join us at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Boston Pizza restaurant at Westbrook Mall shopping centre to discuss the Carbon Countdown Clock. The Countdown Clock continuously estimates how long it will take to reach an amount of greenhouse gas emissions beyond which 2C of warming will be likely. The total carbon budget remaining has been estimated at 2,900 gigatons CO2e (within a range of 2,550 to 3,150). How much of that budget remains, and what we can do to extend the ‘time remaining’ will be discussed with attendees on June 16. Boston Pizza is located at Westbrook Mall on the South West corner of Bow Trail SW and 33 Street SW. Restaurant phone: (403)[masked]. There is ample free parking at Boston Pizza. For those taking C-Train, Boston Pizza is immediately North of the Westbrook Station on the West Line of the C-Train. We have reserved the upper mezzanine section in the south west corner of the restaurant. There is no cover charge; however, there is a 15% gratuity applied on beverages or food. Individual bills will be provided to those who order food or beverage. Please join us on Saturday June 16, 2018 to engage in an important debate on our carbon emissions. Please join us on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at SAIT in Calgary to participate in a presentation on the orientation and placement of solar photovoltaic arrays on horizontal surfaces. Tracy Duncan, a Professional Engineer, will be discussing case studies of several PV projects installed in Alberta in relation to module orientation and row separation. Given Alberta’s cold northern latitude and the sun’s annual variance in elevation and daily duration, we will learn about the importance of factors that can affect the annual production of PV arrays. Tracy runs Renewable Intelligence Inc. in Calgary with a focus on transforming renewables data into opportunities to improve performance, increase reliability, generate extra energy, and save money. Renewable Intelligence offers consulting, training, and help with business intelligence systems to optimize renewable energy plants. On April 21st we will be meeting at SAIT on the second floor of the Johnson Cobbe building in the south-east corner open round common room. The Johnson Cobbe building is a four-minute walk from the SAIT C-train station. Parking ($7.00 all day) is available immediately south of the Johnson Cobbe building. There is no charge for attending. There is a food court on the main floor if you wish to purchase food or beverage. We hope you can join us at SAIT on April 21st,[masked]:00 AM for an informative presentation by Tracy.
