We’ll start with a quick intro to Figma Make, reveal the challenge, and then spend most of the evening building.
You can work on your own or with a team. No need to come with an idea, and no need to make anything polished. The whole point is to try things, make mistakes, build something silly, and have some fun with it.
We’ll have food, snacks, drinks, and fun prizes too.
-------------------------------
## What to bring
- A fully charged laptop and charger if needed
- Figma installed and ready to use
- A Figma account
- A power bar if you have one
At the event, we’ll also share a special code that gives you 24 hours of Figma Pro access plus 3,000 extra AI credits for Figma Make. A credit card is required to activate the trial, but you won't be charged.
-------------------------------
## What to expect
A quick intro to Figma Make
If you haven’t used it before, no problem. We’ll cover the basics before we start.
A ridiculous challenge
We’ll give everyone the same prompt and see where people take it.
Time to build
Most of the evening will be open build time. We’ll be around to help if you get stuck, want feedback, or just want to bounce an idea off someone.
A casual show-and-tell
At the end, we’ll share what we made and hand out a few fun awards.
Some of the categories might include:
- Most Ridiculously Useless
- So Bad, It’s Good
- That Might Actually Work
-------------------------------
## A few rules
- Don’t overthink it.
The stranger the idea, the better. - Fun over polish.
You’re not presenting to a client. Make something that makes you laugh. - Try things.
Use the event as an excuse to experiment with Figma Make and see what happens. - Share your work.
Even if it breaks. Sometimes that’s the best part.
-------------------------------
## Why come?
You’ll get a chance to try Figma Make, meet other people in Calgary’s design community, eat some food, and build something you probably wouldn’t get away with at work.
Whether you’re a designer, developer, product person, student, or just curious about Figma Make, you’re welcome.
