Ski Tour: Aspendell

Details
We will choose our tours based on current conditions. Options include Table Mountain, Piute Crags and Piute Pass.
Dispersed camping is possible along Buttermilk Road. There are also lodging options in the town of Bishop. I like to stay at Pleasant Valley Campground along the Owens River.
We will meet Saturday and Sunday morning at 9:00 am at the Hwy 168 winter road closure. Follow the main road through town until it ends in a snow bank. Look for a silver Tacoma with a black Thule box on top.
This tour is open to 12 people. We can split into two groups of six on the mountain for safety if needed.
Please note that this event may be cancelled or rescheduled at any time due to changing weather or avalanche conditions.
AIARE Level 1 certification (or international equivalent) is required to participate.
Required equipment for ski touring:
Safety Equipment:
Avalanche beacon - digital only
Avalanche probe
Snow Shovel - metal only, Black Diamond or similar
Personal first aid - including medicines, epi pens, etc.
Touring Equipment:

We will check our beacons and gear together at the trailhead before every trip. Missing gear = no trip - so make sure to check your gear list before leaving home!
Backcountry skiing is a high risk activity and participants assume all risk. Visit https://www.esavalanche.org to check current avalanche conditions.
