Hike: Flora Recovery in Buckeye Canyon Following a Devastating Flood
Details
*** Leader's original hike title: Fluvial Processes in Geomorphology & How the Flora Responded to a Devastating Debris Flow in Buckeye Canyon, December 31, 2022. (It wouldn't fit in the space above!)
Fall is a great time to visit San Bruno Mountain, even when most of the plants are “hibernating.” It's a time to look at the Mountain with a new perspective. This hike will look at the geological history and how the flora have responded to a devastating debris flow in Buckeye Canyon on December 31, 2022 that wiped out all of the plants on the floor of the canyon.
Our leaders, David and Doug, are both CNPS YB board members and co-authors of the book: San Bruno Mountain: A Guide to the Flora and Fauna.
To register for the hike, email David at [NelsonDL@Pacbell.net](mailto:NelsonDL@Pacbell.net) or via cell: 415 609 6092.
Meet on Quarry Road at the base of Buckeye Canyon, San Bruno Mountain State and County Park. Bring water, lunch or snacks.
Wear a hat for sun and take layers for possible foggy weather. (Google Map)
