Join Joe Cernac for an exploration of the Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve. The reserve is located atop the higher Santa Cruz Mountains, with lots of moisture and humidity throughout the year, and a unique sterile sandstone, it hosts some unusual flora, including Ponderosa and Knobcone Pine, five manzanitas, endemic Santa Cruz Cypress and Bonny Doon Manzanita among them. The walk is about 3 miles with negligible elevation gain.
Please bring lunch, snacks and plenty of water. Heavy rain cancels.

Directions from Hwy 1: South of Davenport, turn onto Bonny Doon Road. Drive up about 3.6 miles where the road turns into Pine Flat Rd (just past Beauregard Vineyards). In another 500 ft or so, keep to the right onto Martin Rd. Continue about 1 mile, then turn left into the Bonny Doon Fire/Rescue Station and park.
Directions from the South Bay: Take Hwy 17 to the Mt Hermon Rd exit in Scotts Valley. Follow Mt Herman Rd about 3.5 miles to Felton. Continue on Felton Empire Rd. Turn right onto Empire Grade Rd and proceed about 1.8 miles. Continue straight on Ice Cream Grade, then right onto Martin Rd. Continue about 0.7 mile, then turn left into the Bonny Doon Fire/Rescue Station and park.
