Details

***New meeting place!! We'll meet at the end of Geary Road at the pit toilets and picnic table. Navigate to these coordinates: 37.509917, -121.828810***

Join Katie Gallagher, botanist, and child for a wildflower walk. We'll walk the Camp Ohlone Road to Alameda Creek Overlook. We'll stop and look at wildflowers along the way! We will talk about what the flowers are called and which plants are safe for small hands to touch!

We'll park and gather at the END OF GEARY ROAD/OHLONE ROAD AT THE PICNIC TABLE BY THE GATE where there are PIT TOILETS. Note there is a $5 parking fee.

The walk will be 2.5 miles round trip, with 250 feet elevation gain; sections of the trail are exposed and others are shaded.

Please bring lunch, water, lots of snacks, sun protection, hiking poles are recommended, especially if conditions are muddy. Heavy rain cancels.

RSVP is required to join the walk. No drop-ins please and space is limited

Directions to trailhead from the South Bay: Drive north on I-680 and exit at Calaveras Road (near the town of Sunol.) Turn right at the exit onto Calaveras Road and proceed about four miles to a left turn onto Geary Road, which leads directly into the park. (If you find yourself driving uphill on a narrow winding road you’ve missed the Geary Road turnoff.) To reach the Old Green Barn take the first left past the park entrance.
