Help sheet mulch a new native plant garden at Houge Park in San Jose

Details

TIME: 8 AM to Noon
VENUE: Houge Park North

Come help us create a native plant pollinator garden at Houge Park in Southwest San Jose. We will be sheet mulching a large area in the north part of Houge Park in preparation for planting in the fall.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about sheet mulching and to gain community service hours.

Volunteers will meet in the area north of the parking lot on Twilight Drive at 8 AM. We will supply tools and wheelbarrows.

Volunteers will need to fill out a form from the City of San Jose. Those under 18 years of age will need to have the form signed by a parent. The form is available at https://lakecunninghamnativegarden.files.wordpress.com/2022/01/2021-volunteer-service-agreement-adoptapark-version.pdf

Please wear a hat, gloves, and sturdy garden shoes. Bring plenty of fluids and hydrate often.

Address: Houge Park Parking Lot - Twilight Drive near Rupert Drive, San Jose.

Directions: From Bascom Avenue, go east on Woodard Road. Turn right on Twilight Drive and turn left into the parking lot at the park. If the parking lot is full, please park on the street. The future garden is on the north end of the parking lot.
