Three Lessons from C.S. Lewis about a Writer’s Life (plus a bonus fourth lesson!)
The High Desert Branch of the California Writers Club (HDCWC) is proud to present Steven Elmore’s discussion on C.S. Lewis on Saturday, June 8, at the Jess Ranch Community Church from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
C.S. Lewis was the author of more than 30 books, which have sold and continue to sell millions of copies around the globe. He wrote children’s literature, science fiction, fantasy, short stories, poems, satire, allegory, scholarly articles, and Christian nonfiction. But he wasn’t always successful, and he went through quite a few challenges in his life before and after becoming a well-known author. Steven Elmore will discuss Lewis’s life and three lessons —plus a bonus fourth lesson—from Lewis’s life that we can apply to our own understanding of what it means to live the life of a writer.
Steven Elmore is president of the C.S. Lewis Foundation (CSLF) and managing director of the C.S. Lewis Foundation (UK). Steven has more than 25 years of experience working in the nonprofit and education sectors. At the CSLF, he has also served as Vice President for Events and Communications and Director of Communications. Prior to joining the CSLF in 2006, he was a college English instructor for six years, a GED history and science instructor, a computer software instructor, a test-prep tutor, a private tutor, and a small business office administrator. He is a writer and guest contributor for The Cultivating Project magazine and has published essays in Women and C.S. Lewis: What His Life and Literature Reveal for Today’s Culture and in A Tale of Two Trees: Meditations on Faith-Keeping in Story and Song. A southern California native, his degrees are from Pepperdine University and Claremont Graduate University, and he taught at Chaffey, Mt. San Antonio, San Bernardino Valley, Crafton Hills, and Victor Valley colleges.
