We are the San Francisco Peninsula branch of the California Writers Club. Meet authors, agents, editors and publishers. Acquire writing techniques to hone your craft. Learn how to market your work in this brave new world of publishing. Polish your public reading skills at a monthly Open Mic, sponsored by our branch. Make use of a variety of mentoring and educational workshops. The Club also offers the chance to network with one's peers, priceless for those engaged in the solitary task of writing. We facilitate the exchange of ideas between authors and provide inspiration through the camaraderie of fellow writers.

Writing, like finessing a building design or a sewing pattern, requires countless iterations. It is a solitary pursuit, and there is no way to let another being in when you are in the flow of your creativity. But you don't have to navigate that tussle with perfection entirely alone.
Whether you are tuning in from down the street or across time zones—and whether you're working on a manuscript, a screenplay, a research project, or an art project—this space is yours.
Join in to experience the shared architecture of silence: no read-alouds, no instant critiques, and no pressure.
Session Schedule (PDT)
• 8:45 – 9:00 PM: Brief introductions and goal setting.
• 9:00 – 10:45 PM: Quiet, focused writing block.
• 10:45 – 11:00 PM: Final check-in (and celebrating the win of simply showing up!).As a noir writer, architect, and future cook, I realize that creativity doesn't run on a strict clock. Walk-ins and late arrivals are always welcome.

• Your Zoom display name must match your registered name on the platform, or you will not be admitted.

### Writing the Heroine’s Journey: Descent of the Goddess
### Presenters: Kate Farrell and Beth Mattsson
As we celebrate the epic adventure of Odysseus in a movie extravaganza, The Odyssey directed by Christopher Nolan, a hero’s journey that has revived interest in classical literature, we might wonder: Where is the heroine? She appears in the literature of antiquity, her exploits told, her hymns sung.
Join us to explore the hidden terrain of the heroines’ journey at its most dramatic and transformative in her ancient, suppressed tales and leave with a sense of awe. We will tell powerful excerpts and provide writing prompts so that the old stories become living maps once again.
Bonus: Pertinent excerpts from The Fairy Tale Heroine: Live and Write Her Journey manuscript for historical and cultural context in a pdf file.
-------Kate Farrell, is a storyteller, author, librarian, and founder of the Woven project to tell the heroine’s journey. She has contributed to and edited award-winning anthologies of personal narrative; as an educator she founded the Word Weaving Storytelling Project and published numerous educational materials on storytelling. Kate’s award-winning book is Story Power: Secrets to Creating, Crafting, and Telling Memorable Stories. Her upcoming book, published by Sibyl Writing Craft, The Fairy Tale Heroine: Live and Write Her Journey, is available January 2027. https://katefarrell.net/ or https://woventales.net/
Beth Mattsson is a Certified Creative Journal Expressive Arts Instructor, a trained SoulCollage® facilitator, a Facilitator of Intuitive Painting and Expressive Arts, and Touch Drawing. She is also a Breathwork facilitator which helps us go from our heads to our hearts. She offers workshops as well as one-on-one creative facilitation. Beth has led workshops for women, leadership teams at nonprofit organizations, at conferences for school employees, as well as at professional development days at school districts. She lives in Menlo Park with her husband and their rescue boxer dog, Bella, and is recently retired from her 21-year career in public education.
