What we’re about
A social Hub and Performance driven group for String players which uniquely explores the string Repetoire - from Trios , Quartets, Quintets, Sextets and a String Orchestra - this is for experienced and advanced players - with that spark of creativity and a passion about performing. The repertoire is exciting and uniquely wider than any other music experience in Cambridgeshire with regular Performance opportunities. A shared leadership is desirable and there is nothing to stop suitable players gaining both Leadership or Soloist experience.
There is in this group the freedom.to excel and experience a playing experience which is often not easy in a symphony Orchestra.
Are aim is to be Cambridges best string group both for our performances of Trios, Quartets etc and for our larger String Orchestra Performances - as one example we are to Perform 2 Quintets Schubert The Trout and Dvorak Op 94 Quintet with Bass. For String Orchestra- Vaughan Williams Fantasia and Elgar Introduction and Allegro - our Pianist is a professional of great talent while one of our leaders is already a brilliant Violinist at Guildhall London.
Our events are scheduled to build a great performance with usually two 2.5 hour sessions although for large works 3 sessions .
music is sent weeks before and it's expected that all players work up the pieces to cover all technical pieces and follow some sent Examples of YouTube performances as guides to expressive / dynamic details .

All who come to play are expected to be sure after 1st session that they wish to proceed to a performance . All sessions are organised in Central venues in Cambridge while Performances are mainly going to be at Downing Place URC in the Hall although Trios, Quartets etc may be in a smaller Hall.
