Questions:

  1. What is the relationship between bodily sensations (such as pain) and emotions?
  2. How are sensations and emotions related to things that we value? Are all emotions related to those things?
  3. Does the way in which a particular emotion manifests itself to us change over time? What is the cause of such a change?
  4. How should we approach the control we have over our emotions (or their cause)? Is a philosophy like Stoicism the solution?
  5. Does "society" take an active part in shaping our emotions?

Come discuss this topic and whether you agree with Ayn Rand or not in a roundtable format with other interested people! We use Rand's writings as a starting point for the discussion but this group is for discussing philosophical issues more generally! Feel free to come present your or your favourite philosopher's ideas on the subject.

Location: Online, on Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/xcg-zdyn-hzt
Format: Roundtable discussion, moderated to ensure everyone gets a shot at intervening on each point and to keep the discussion on topic.
