No Provenance Exhibition + Coffee
Details
Join us for a relaxed Sunday afternoon exploring No Provenance, a new exhibition at Cambridge's Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, followed by coffee and a chat.
Created by Cambridge-based Syrian artist Issam Kourbaj, the exhibition takes an unusual approach to displaying museum objects and artworks.
Normally, museum labels tell us what an object is, where it came from and why it matters. Here, those explanations are deliberately withheld, inviting us to form our own interpretations and question what we know about the objects and the stories behind them.
We'll spend around 90 minutes exploring the exhibition and some of the museum's other collections. We'll take things at a relaxed pace, splitting into smaller groups where needed.
As the museum doesn't have its own café, we'll head to Hot Numbers on Trumpington Street afterwards, around seven minutes' walk away. Anyone who fancies coffee and a chat is welcome to join us, and we'll walk over together. You're equally welcome to come just for the museum visit.
ADMISSION & ATTENDANCE
Admission is free, and no individual tickets are needed. Just RSVP on Meetup so we know who's coming.
Group size: Places are limited to 20 people, including the organiser. Our group visit has been arranged with the museum in advance.
If your plans change and you can't make it, please cancel your RSVP, even if it's on the day. This gives someone else the chance to join us. Thanks so much!
