Description:
There will be a gentle rise towards Babraham Park, crossing over the A11 via a footbridge to arrive in Little Abington. Option to stop at The Three Tuns pub for a refreshment. We'll then continue across open countryside to arrive in Great Chesterford, with another optional pub stop at The Plough or Crown or Thistle, or can take an earlier train.
We’ll likely be walking through muddy farmland, so please wear proper hiking boots. Also remember to bring layers and waterproofs, as it may be chilly or rainy.
This is a long walk. Please ensure you can walk this distance before signing up. Bring lots of water and snacks, as well as lunch.
Logistics:
We will meet at Cambridge Central Train Station at 9:00 AM to catch the 9:18 train to Shelford (Cambs). We should arrive at Great Shelford at 9:25 and begin the walk by 9:30am. Please buy a return ticket to Great Chesterford if coming by train.
If you’re driving, make sure you meet us at Shelford (Cambs) station by 9:25am.
Approx 2:30pm we finish in Great Chesterford. Option to visit one of local pubs in the village for a repast. Trains to Cambridge at 2:30 or 3:30pm depending on finish.
Bring: Food as described above, walking kit - hiking boots, waterproof jacket, warm layers.
Fitness: Ensure you can walk this distance.
Join the club: There is a £1 fee for the first walk and a recurring £1 monthly fee thereafter for members. This helps cover admin costs and fund trips for the club. After the walk, the walk organisers will share the details of the club bank account. On receipt of payment, newcomers will be added to the club Whatsapp group by the club organiser.
