Starting to dance is not as easy as it sounds, and we know that feeling very well. So here is an event dedicated to Beginners just to “start” and get on a dance floor—we don’t care about doing it perfectly. We will dance Bachata!

Here is one of my favorite videos just to see the flow of the dance:

### Level

This event is for all Beginners but will adapt depending on who is coming. So, if:

  • You don't know how to dance Bachata and you just want to have fun and check it out
  • Or you already know a few basic steps and want to get on the dance floor and practice

This will work for you!

If you are an higher level, we can easily make the same things more difficult for you. The trick is always the same: just add arm coordination to the steps and something simple becomes way more complicated.

### Where to Find Us

  • 📍We will be on the first floor (upstairs room) at The Golden Hind (Milton Rd, Cambridge).
  • đŸ—“ïžWhen: every Wednesday
  • ⏱Time: 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • đŸ’·Price: ÂŁ5 per person (Payable on arrival via Revolut or Cash)

Please note: We will be at the room door starting from 7:50 PM to welcome you and check everyone in so we can start dancing promptly at 8:00 PM!

### Ticket

This is the Revolut Link:

Please write "Bachata" as a message!

We will also accept Cash, please have the 5 ready :)

### The Plan:

  • 7:50 PM - 8:00 PM: Arrival, check-in, and getting settled.
  • 8:00 PM Sharp: Warm-up! We’ll spend the first 5 minutes stretching and moving our feet.
  • Part 1:
  • Steps: We will review the core steps, basics, and understand how they are supposed to work together.
  • Part 2:
  • Concepts: I'll share a few key insights, like how to reliably find the “1” count and quick tricks to improve your balance and lead/follow connection.
  • Or Move Review: We will go into the details of a single move and understand it better
  • Part3:
  • Small Sequence: You'll end up learning and dancing a simple sequence of 3 or 4 fundamental moves. The Sequence will be based on the Steps we did and the Move we reviewed (if we did)
  • 9:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Social practice time! We keep the music playing so you can practice what you learned, socialize, and grab a drink at the bar downstairs.

We will be organizing these sessions to be progressive. Every time we will add new things, and then we start again in groups of 4

### Keep In Mind

To keep this a comfortable, friendly space for everyone:

  • We will be asking if you and your guests are leading or following when you join, so we can auto-balance the group.
  • This isn't a speed dating event. We are here to connect with the music and the movement, not to find a "match."
  • Please avoid correcting others. If there's a technical hurdle, a co-host or I will step in to help—otherwise, just keep flowing!
  • We all make mistakes, and we are 100% okay with that. It’s the only way to learn.
  • If you’re moving and having fun, you’re doing it right.
  • This is a self-contained, drop-in class starting right from the basics.
  • Rain or shine, we are indoors and warm!
  • This is a community-run session. Whether we are a small group or a full room, the music stays on and we keep moving!

—------ The backstory
Hello everyone!
My name is Manuel and I am a dancer. I do a lot of Salsa and Bachata—you’ll usually find me at events every weekend unless I’m sick.

I’ve spent the past years traveling to festivals and learning from some of the best dancers in the world (and also the worst eheh). I’ve collected a lot of different perspectives and ideas, and I will be sharing them with you. I have a lot to say and a lot to show you, that’s for sure.

Vera and I started with “Bachata in the Park” in April 2026 and we just keep going to see where the journey goes. Vera is a bachata and salsa dancer and bachata teacher.

Every person is in his/her own journey even in the dancing world. It does not matter what it brings us, what matters is to enjoy the ride.

So come and join us! We are looking forward to seeing you 😀
