About us
Welcome to Cambridge Movie Meetup. We're a friendly, relaxed group for anyone who enjoys going to the cinema and having a chat about what they've watched afterwards.
The idea is simple. We’ll organise a few cinema trips each month, with all our screenings taking place at The Light Cinema in Cambridge Leisure Park.
We'll watch a mixture of films, from the latest blockbusters and independent releases to thrillers, comedies, horror, classics and anything else that catches our eye!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
For each Meetup, we’ll choose a film and screening time, then post the details along with a link to book tickets.
Everyone books their own ticket, and we’ll share the row and seat number we've booked so you can book somewhere nearby if you'd like to sit together.
After the film, we'll head somewhere nearby, such as Creams, for a drink, coffee or dessert and a relaxed chat about what we've just watched.
Nothing formal or overly serious. You don't need to be a film expert, and there's no pressure to contribute to the conversation. It's simply an opportunity to enjoy a good film and meet some new people.
Coming along on your own? Absolutely fine! That's what Meetup is all about, and newcomers are always welcome.
KEEPING CINEMA COSTS DOWN
All our screenings take place at The Light Cambridge.
If you enjoy going to the cinema regularly, We’d recommend checking out their myLight Premiere membership, which currently costs £16.99 a month and includes unlimited standard film screenings. There's a minimum six-month commitment, and some premium screenings cost extra.
Membership is completely optional, and you're welcome to buy individual tickets instead.

Wicker + Film Chat

Join us for Wicker, a new fantasy romance from directors Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, starring Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård and Peter Dinklage.
The film follows a lonely fisherwoman who commissions a local basketmaker to create her the perfect husband out of wicker. When her unusual new partner proves better than anyone imagined, their unlikely romance causes jealousy, outrage and chaos in her conservative village.

I've booked seat F10, and there are currently plenty of available seats nearby, so feel free to book somewhere close if you'd like to sit together.
When you've booked your seat, you can post a comment to share your seat number so other members know where you're sitting.
We won't be meeting in the foyer beforehand. Just head straight into the screening, find your seat and say hello!
No need to arrive early or worry about finding the group.

Once the film finishes, we'll head over to Creams, just a short walk from the cinema, for a drink, dessert and a relaxed chat about what we've watched.
Nothing formal, just an opportunity to share our thoughts and get to know each other.
You're very welcome to come along on your own, and there's absolutely no pressure to stay afterwards.
