Lessons from shifting from a hierarchy to a self-managed model

Details

Practices of self-management can be found in all sorts of organisations: banks, industrial manufacturers, care providers, governmental departments even. So why not an NGO that helps reimagine government so that it works for everyone.

For this event we have invited Lena Kuenkel to share her experience of introducing and working with self-management principles, having come from a hierarchical model.

Lena will reflect on her experiences of working in a self-managed organisation and share what she learned in 3.5 years of transforming a previously hierarchically organised team. As part of this, she will talk about why the decision about the model matters, what she learned about purpose and values and which processes were most helpful.

Lena was a Director at the Centre for Public Impact until December 2021 before starting her own consulting business this year.
