Join us for the new and improved monthly Cambridge Rust meetup, hosted at Quantinuum's office on Hill's Road.

Speaker: Alona Enraght-Moony

Topic: Freeing rustc’s understanding: The many approaches to third-party rust tooling.

Modern Compilers do more than emitting diagnostics and executables. They also produce an understanding of the source code that powers many other tools. For example, in the rust toolchain, the analysis done by rustc is used as the core of rustfmt, rustdoc, miri, and clippy. In addition to these tools provided as part of the rust toolchain, rustc is also used by many third party tools. This talk will explore why this matters, what exists today to support third party tooling, and why there’s no “one true way” to do it (yet!).

Speaker Bio: Alona Enraght-Moony is member of the Rustdoc team, where she focuses on maintaining rustdoc-json.
