Murder Mystery Book Club - The Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham

Details
Why not join us for a lively discussion of Rosalie Ham's darkly satirical novel of love, revenge and 1950s haute couture.
After 20 years spent mastering the art of dressmaking at couture houses in Paris, Myrtle "Tilly" Dunnage returns to the small Australian town she was banished from as a child after the violent death of a schoolmate.
She plans only to check on her ailing mother and leave. But Tilly decides to stay and, though the shadows of her past hang over her, Tilly's lush, exquisite dresses prove irresistible to the prim women of Dungatar and she finds a measure of grudging acceptance. But as her breathtaking designs begin to arouse envy in town, causing old resentments to surface, it becomes clear that Tilly’s mind is set on a darker purpose. Will she ever manage to right the wrongs of the past?
If you're worried you don't have time to read or listen to the book, do search out Jocelyn's Moorhouse's wonderful 2015 film version starring Kate Winslet.
