Join us for The Apartment 1960, a romantic comedy-drama set in corporate Manhattan. CC “Bud” Baxter (Jack Lemmon) is a lonely and ambitious clerk at a large insurance company who attempts to climb the corporate ladder by lending his modest Upper West Side apartment to company executives for their extramarital affairs. His strategy appears to be working until he discovers that his favourite elevator operator, Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine), is involved.

Blending biting wit with genuine emotional depth, Sunset Blvd director Billy Wilder crafts a nuanced portrait of ambition and alienation in 1960s urban America. The film won 5 Oscars (Best Film, Director, Screenplay, Editing and Art Direction), and deserved every one of them.

As usual we will socialise, enjoying snacks and beverages before settling down to watch the movie. A fun quiz at the end will determine who's done their homework before the film!
