Details

This Meetup is a free-form version of the monthly Science Makers gathering. It's a chance to:

Find out more about the funding opportunities Biomaker Challenge (http://www.synbio.cam.ac.uk/biomakerchallenge) (£1000) and OpenPlant Fund (https://www.openplant.org/fund/)(£5000), meet others interested in participating and ask questions. Build equipment for the Biomakespace (https://biomake.space/), a fledgling community lab for biology and engineering being established at the Biomedical Campus. Find out about a range of projects in low-cost equipment for molecular biology and imaging, see how internet of things technology is making it easier than ever before to connect equipment together and operate it remotely. Co-work on interesting projects. Projects planned for the weekend include:

Lego colorimeter Lego Technik lab robot 3D-printed pipette Spectrophotometer Tidy lab boxes for consumables We have a bunch of sensors, Lego Technik, Arduinos, Raspberry Pis and more to play with - no experience required, just an interest and willingness to have a go and a great chance to learn a little bit about electronics and coding in a friendly environment.

Lunch will be provided on Saturday!

Timing

12:00-16:00 on Saturday and then we'll take a break, with some people staying around in to the evening. There is another Meetup in the classroom 16:00-18:00, but work can continue in the main space or craft room.

Sunday there will be people around 10:00-17:00.
