Ely Cathedral Animal Service

Each year, Ely Cathedral holds a special service to rejoice in all the animals of the world. Many people bring their companion animals along, and there is a delightful atmosphere of appreciation and care.

The service starts at 2pm, but I've started this meetup at 1pm so there's time for us to chat and meet each other beforehand. I suggest we meet at outside the cathedral, walk through the porta, down to the river, and back the same way.

Since the animal service is a religious service, I am assuming that everyone will treat it with appropriate respect, and not have a conversation with your neighbours or let your phone ring while it's in progress. Ely Cathedral is quite keen to welcome everyone, and you won't be expected to sing hymns or recite verses if there's anything you don't agree with, it's perfectly acceptable just to witness it. And donations from the event will be given to local animal charities.
