What we’re about
Camp Good Mourning! is a 501c3 nonprofit that provides FREE bereavement camp programs for Long Island children coping with the death of a parent or sibling.
Our goal is to recruit caring and compassionate people to get involved with Camp Good Mourning!
You can support Camp Good Mourning! campers and our organization by either:
• volunteering during a weekend camp, event, outing or get involved behind the scenes
• having fun attending/participating (not as a volunteer) in one of our fundraising events
Our events include:
• Two 3-day weekend camps -- one in the Spring and one in the Fall. Each camp requires team members to attend a two-day training that will provide the skills needed to support grieving children. The camps take place at Camp Quinipet on Shelter Island.
• Fundraising events
• Community Outreach Events

Camp Good Mourning! (CGM!) is a Huntington, NY-based 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides FREE weekend grief camp programs for Long island children coping with the death of a parent or sibling.
Camp Good Mourning! takes place in a traditional camp setting with one extra special component – Grief Support Groups. Each support group focuses on a different theme including, but not limited to, sharing one’s grief story, identifying and exploring feelings, identifying healthy as well as unhealthy coping skills, and learning ways to stay connected to loved ones even though they are no longer physically with them. Just as important, we encourage campers to stay in touch with new camp friends in between camp to create their own “community of support.”
