Lemoine Point and Amherst Island Owl, Hawks and Eagle Adventure
Details
Join us for another exhilarating birding adventure with the Canada Birders Club!
We’ll start our day in Kingston at Lemoine Point Conservation Area, where we’ll search for Barred Owls in their natural woodland habitat. This is one of the most reliable and magical places in Southern Ontario to see Barred Owls, and the beautiful photo at the top of the page was taken right there on a previous visit.
From there, we’ll head to one of our all-time favourite winter hotspots, Amherst Island. This incredible island rarely disappoints. We’ll be on the lookout for Snowy Owls, Short-eared Owls, Bald Eagles, Rough-legged Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks, and Northern Harriers. In addition to these impressive raptors, we often encounter Snow Buntings, White-tailed Deer, and Red Foxes, it’s usually non-stop action for both birders and photographers.
Our adventure begins at 8:00 am from York Mills Subway Station. You’re welcome to drive your own vehicle, or you can grab one of the 3 available spots in mine. This is an easy going outing with short walks and frequent stops. At Lemoine Point, we’ll walk mostly flat, well-maintained trails. On Amherst Island, we’ll bird primarily from the vehicle with strategic stops for viewing and photography.
Please wear sturdy footwear or hiking boots, as conditions can be snowy or a bit uneven in places. Bring a packed lunch, snacks, and water for the day. We’ll also make a Tim Hortons stop en route for anyone who’d like an extra coffee, snack, or washroom break.
The cost for this full-day experience is $119.00. You can pay securely via PayPal on the Meetup page or by e-transfer to
**torontonaturelovers@hotmail.com**.
If you pay by e-transfer, just let me know and I’ll manually add you to the outing.
Don’t miss this chance to immerse yourself in nature, enjoy great company, and experience some of Ontario’s best winter birding. Mark your calendar for Saturday, December 13th, we can’t wait to share this adventure with you!
