Canadian Conversation Club: How to Navigate Job Interviews for Newcomers

Details

Job interviews in Canada can feel very different from what you’re used to. Even if you’ve passed IELTS or TOEFL and speak good English, many newcomers are surprised by the unspoken rules of Canadian interviews and workplace culture.
This free Canadian Conversation Club session is designed to help you:

  • Practice interview-level English in a safe, supportive space
  • Learn the cultural expectations in Canadian interviews (small talk, tone, body language, STAR method)
  • Get practical tips that go beyond grammar — from how to answer “Tell me about yourself” to what kinds of questions you’re expected to ask at the end

### About Me

I’m from Indonesia, I've lived in 7 countries and worked 6 different jobs since moving to Canada 3 years ago — my most recent one was in a unionized government role. I know first-hand how intimidating it feels to navigate a new culture and job market.
That’s why I want to help newcomers overcome the hurdles I faced. My goal is to make this session encouraging, hands-on, and even fun!

### Who Is This For?

  • Newcomers in Canada who want to feel more confident before job interviews
  • Future arrivals preparing ahead of time for the Canadian workplace culture
  • Anyone who wants to sound natural and professional in interviews while also understanding the “Canadian way” of communication

Come join me and take the first step toward feeling confident, natural, and ready for your Canadian career journey!

Spots are limited to 10 participants, so everyone has the chance to speak and get feedback.
