Dryden Movie - Captain America: The First Avenger

## Joe Simon, creator of Captain America along with Jack Kirby, was born in Rochester, NY in 1913. Though he left for Syracuse and eventually New York City after graduating from Franklin High School, we still claim him as one of our own. After creating “The Star Spangled Man with a Plan” in 1940, he couldn’t have imagined how the character would capture the imagination of the film world seventy years later. This film tracks Cap’s beginnings in World War II, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is transformed from 4-F patriot to super-soldier by the serum devised by scientist Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci). Initially sidelined as a symbol, Rogers must prove himself in combat, taking on the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) and the rest of the Nazi army. One of the best of the Marvel canon, directed by a classic stylist (Joe Johnston), this film boasts a stacked cast including Tommy Lee Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Haley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, and Toby Jones.
