Details

Please be aware, these classes sell out very QUICKLY, so if you're interested, you need to register NOW. When/if you actually purchase a ticket, please note this in the comments section below, so folks wishing to meet up before, during or after the show can make plans accordingly.

Tree Identification and Forest Ecology at Washington Grove

This rare remnant of old-growth forest tucked into Cobbs Hill Park is aglow with autumnal color in October! In addition to enjoying the seasonal show together, you will leave this class able to both identify our local forests’ major native tree species from leaves and bark, and to interpret the silent ecological stories told in trees, wherever your next hike takes you.

Please note: A rain date for this class is scheduled for September 21st from 10am-11:30am. Students registering for this class must also be available for the rain date, and will be automatically transferred if weather prohibits class on October 4th. Refunds or exchanges will not be given if students are unable to make the rain date.

This trip will entail walking about three-quarters of a mile on an earth trail that is moderately inclined and potentially muddy in a few areas. Students will be on their feet for the duration of the class; please choose your footwear accordingly. You are also encouraged to bring your own personal water bottle to stay hydrated. If you experience seasonal or general environment allergies, please consider preventative preparation ahead of class time. At the conclusion of class, the student and instructor will walk together back to the meeting place where class begins.
