UPDATE: If thereโs interest, we can stop to meet the goats ๐๐๐ who are taking care of weeds on Forest Drive, near the National Rock Garden.
Ever wanted to ride the entire circumference of Lake Burley Griffin? Itโs a wonderful ride on hard trails, dirt trails & even boardwalks over the water. Start at Henry Rolland Park (below Commonwealth Ave Bridge), pass the central basin to the lakeโs beginning near Moreshead Drive, over the Jerrabomberra wetlands, Kingston Foreshore, Yarralumla, Scrivener Dam, and back to the Commonwealth Ave bridge. Itโs a mostly flat ride of about 42km, but a few hills at both far ends of the lake. A moderate amount of fitness is required.
Bring sunscreen, snacks, at least one litre of water, sunglasses, and a sense of adventure.
This ride should take less than four hours, depending on breaks, and the length of the queue at the unmissable Yarralumla Pide House. (Google Maps estimates it will take 2 hours without stopping, which isnโt realistic).
Open to all ages, abilities, faiths & identities, but please note this is a 40+km ride, and a moderate level of fitness will be required.
