About us
Community Connection Canberra is a relaxed Meetup group for simple, low-pressure ways to connect with others through walks, coffee catch-ups, and occasional community events.
This group is hosted by Roses in the Ocean, a national lived-experience-led suicide prevention organisation. In the ACT, our aim is to strengthen community connection, reduce isolation and help people become aware of peer-led, non-clinical support options such as Peer CARE Companion in Community and the Peer CARE Warmline.
This group may be a good fit if you are new to Canberra, feeling disconnected, wanting a gentle reason to get out of the house, supporting someone through a difficult time, or simply looking for kind company in a community setting. It is also a safe space for people that have been affected by suicide.
You do not need to come with anyone. Many people come on their own. There is no expectation to attend regularly, share your story, or talk if you do not feel like talking. You are welcome to join once, come occasionally, or attend more often.
The focus is simple: fresh air, connection, community and being around people who understand the value of kindness, respect and not having to do life alone.
